Journal Entry #14 On Dumpster Diving

His view on College Students that discard goods, are common among today. There alot of teens that have not yet worked and do not know how it feels to work their backs and receive a weakly check. Those that are living within their parents have it easy and do not struggle maintaining themselves with what little resources they have. They have endless resources that provide them a safety nest, that they can go back to.

Once they reach college, those that have not tasted responsibility in working to be able to live by, face a cultural shock. Unwillingly they have adapted themselves to save what few necessities that have to be able to live by. College students are too adapted to having their parents look after them, that they act as if they have no worries to face. When they find something better, and that looks better appetizing, they will discard what they think as old and un functional. Discarding what is still of good use, it all goes to the trash.

Journal Entry #13 I-Search Topic

Blog 10: 2-3 paragraphs 1) already know on your topic 2)what you want to learn and why
on the topics you choose
1) Immigration should people that have done no crime and have been here for many years stay or be kicked out.
2)Should people and jobs judge a person by their piercings and tattoos.
3)Should financial assistance be taken away from people, because of many that have lied to receive it.

I choose three topics that interest me, and that are controversial on whether it should be fixed on ignored. My topics are: should immigrants that have been here for many years and have not committed a crime or become a danger be kicked out of the U.S.A for being illegal  should people that have piercings or tattoos be denied from a job or be judged by their appearances, should financial assistance be taken away form everyone due to many frauds done by other people. My topics are choose, because each of them have affected me in my life.
I know that there are many illegals that have done harm to this country and they continue to have their citizenship, while those that have done no trouble through out many years in this country have been denied citizenship. There are good people out there that do not do drugs or do anything bad, but have decided to get a tattoo, just because they saw it as beautiful. Those few people are denied jobs, because of their appearance to look repulsive to the employer. Few jobs accept them, especially when they have piercings that seem to stand out. People like me, that can not afford much have medicaid and food stamps. We can not always afford much, especially when you are the one working and maintaining bills for your family; illegal is a factor to this. There are people out there that can afford alot, but decide to save  it and purchase non necessity objects, like a new car.
I want to know is  there anything that can be done or fixed about social taboos.People judge by how they were raised as, and do not see opportunities that could be provided. Many can not afford the food or transportation, when dealing with cons of being illegal. My mother does not have a job, so I had to look for one to be able to provide for them. It was hard at first knowing that you could be judged by your piercing.

Journal Entry #12 Thanks to Modern Science

Civilians that have murdered and gone out free, are yet to be found. For that, many others have been convicted for their haynes crimes. Unwillingly there have been times that they do not further investigate the possibilities,  because they feel powerful for capturing an evil villain. Innocence has been over looked, once they are contained in jail, that many yell for freedom. A closer look over the years, have showed the achievements of science to prove their innocence after many years. Those years contain can never be returned, and not ever a forgiveness is acceptable.
Life has been lost to the treacherous punishment, that few call justice. One should not contempt themselves with the idea of an eye for an eye will fix everything. Evidence can wind out from anywhere and prove many theories to come out openly. The idea of someone dying without a say by a torcherous act, is the same as a victim being murdered. You can not punish someone so harsh in a manner, that their life is to end immediately by a electric chair, or a poisoned needle. If their time to go from this world has not come, there should be no reason to take it away.
If a murdered has made their crime fall upon a innocent person, and that person says they are innocent, then they should reexamine the evidence. Look further from what they see ad discover, what they could of missed the first time. A punishment of re-education, or sentence to life seems more fair for a murderous crime. If all seems to fail, then another option would be to contain them till death.

Journal Entry #11 Major League Baseball

Write  a paragraph suggesting ways to prevent situations such as the one down in the picture. For example, might high fines deter player from losing their temper?
Everyone has gotten mad over a small conflict or a big conflict caused by basically anybody. It can also lead to a hole group of people getting mad, because of their strong beliefs. For example rivalry can cause a lot of friction between two crowds. At a sports event it can be difficult to obtain your temper, when one group is name calling or insulting your team. There are a number of things you can do, but you can not always avoid getting mad. For example if someone in front of you is insulting one of your favorite team players or saying how bad they all play, avoid that person. You can eader change seats from where you are sitting, so you do not hear them or see them. When they are being to verbally with foul language and there are kids and you feel like you are being disturbed, you may politely ask the person or people to please settle down or watch their mouths. It may not always work, depending on the people you are asking, and it can lead to trouble. If they ask for a fight try calming them down and be reasonable, or walk away.

Journal Entry # 10 Process Project

What was it like to work on your process project?
This project was a project where we just had to describe the process of about anything we could think of.  The possibilities could be as creative as our imaginations. It was just difficult deciding what was it we wanted to present and could come to agreements with. The time was of Halloween and we thought it would be fun to have something eerie. The ideas came of something edible that looked scary, to a product one could wear, or to an activity, that could be scary.
After reading a story that seems to fit the time of Halloween, it came to suggest we could probably do something similar to it. The idea of fixing up a dead body after death,  for a funeral seemed  disturbing. Taxidermy was closely related to it, and reminded me of a video I had seen on Taboo. The video was about people that are overly attached to their animals and will go to extents to keep them after death. That is where Elba and Michael both said how they love their pets dearly and had passed away. This lead to our idea of a project and we were excited.
It was a little bit frustrating at the beginning trying to choose who does what for this project, but as soon as we did we started on the project. The steps were pretty easy to find, but too look at the demonstration was nasty look at. It was a simple picture glance, not like a video. It was easy to follow the steps, well to me from what it stated. I wanted to actually try and do a taxidermy mouse, but the idea of doing it was a lot of supplies and I wouldn't know what to do with it after. When the steps were put into the prezi I felts really accomplished by it because it meant we were almost done. The pictures were easy as well, and some of them were weird to look at. It popped in my head at times, that what the inside of the mouse is somewhat similar to how our organs might look like inside. It was still fun to learn more about it and I really enjoyed doing this.

Journal Entry #9 How to Escape from a Bad Date

1) Although this is a humorous essay, the writers nevertheless do give some useful advice. Write a new version of these instructions, including only steps that you see as realistic and sensible. In your introduction, give some reasons someone might need to escape from a date; in your conclusion, make recommendations for avoiding this problem in the future.
Trying to avoid a date one does not like can be simple. You can make up an excuse, such as family matters or work. One can never come back from the "restroom", but in reality just left your date hanging. The easiest way to avoid all this is cancel before it even starts.

2) Rewrite one of the selection's four strategy sections, replacing the authors' specific advice with your own advice-for example, your own steps' for faking an emergency or getting your date to leave. Add an introduction and a conclusion to make your instructions into a complete essay.
When it comes to a unknown date always be prepared. If your date does not seem to be your type you can always identify yourself as someone else. For example come prepare with another bag full of necessities  Pack hair products to change your hair and another pair of clothes to change in. If you have room pack some shoes to run, and make up as well as accessories.

3) Write a set of instructions for how to escape a bad party.
Nobody likes going to parties that are not that fun, especially if it involves certain people. Those that have never been to a party, will expect so much out of it and come out disappointed  When they feel trap for being there they will not know how to react and get out of there. There are a number of ways some may be so simple other a little more difficult  especially if they insist
The most difficult situation one can be put through is when it is a small gathering and you can not fit it. It can be very awkward for you to conversate with them and to continue a conversation. A person in panic can sometimes not think of a way to get .How to escape a party can be alot easier than a date. One you can sneak out from the crowd, unless it is a small gathering. If it's smaller than make up excuses that you can not stay long, or that you have other priorities to attend.  If you believe you are going to a lame party and they insist on you going, text someone to call you in a certain time. That way when they call you can say it was your mother asking you to come help at home. You may leave as you please and avoid conflict.

Journal Entry #8 Malcolm X

Did you ever engage in behavior that your later came to view as unacceptable as your belief changed or as your social consciousness developed? What made you change your attitude toward this behaviour?

I remember back in middle school many people though their life was so hard, but in real life someone always had it harder. Some people thought it was also cool to dress in black, wear eyeliner, and do the whole scene girl, emo, and gothic looking kid.  People would straighten their hair so much till it got really damaged  dye their hair black and wear skinny black jeans and band shirts.  Also, there where some of the few that would do some piercings. They would be angry and sad at the world, that they would isolate each other from everyone else. At a moment I too followed the look of being emo, back in 8th grade, because I thought I had it tough when it wasn't the end of the world. It only felt like that, for my stupid decisions I made and for finding out bad stuff that destroyed my world.  I soon grew more, and started looking normal, because I realised life is to short and I started to live my life to the fullest. I was once again happy, and I did not need the wrong attention by my old personal style. I changed once I seperated by th ebad influenced, and realised I am worth alot more than what they made me

Journal Entry #7 Road Brent Staples's Essay

Have you ever been in a situation such as the ones Staples described  where you perceived someone (or someone perceived you) as threatening  How did you react after reading Staples's essay, do you think you would react the same way now?
I do not know if others have seen me as threatening,  but I do know I have thought of others just by looking at them. A feeling of frightening powers me thinking someone is going to hurt me by just looking at their appearance. I know that one must not always judge by the looks, but by their character; I can not help knowing that I live by thought of society. One is easily influenced by it even if they did not mean to. When I was younger my mom, sister  and I walked down a street in the late afternoon. It started to get darker and darker and we had no recall in what direction we were going. I remember seeing a man coming up ahead of us and he seemed distracted  He was a dark man with a plain white shirt, torn blue jeans, and worn out shoes. His face was stern but with a mystery behind that eerie smile. My mommy hesitate and looked uneasily  and her decision was quickly made to cross the street away from the man. As we continued along i turned around and saw the man starring he smiled at me and waved slowly. I turned around quickly with mommy walking at a faster pace. To this day I have no clue who that man was and why he smiled at me. I can understand why she did that and why society immediately thinks something of the ordinary to become more complex. Now a days, i look at someone and come to a opinion about them, and they usually are all the same as I predicted.

Journal Entry #6 Four Tattoos

Would you ever get a tattoo? (Explain why got a tattoo if you have one)
I would get a tattoo, because I like art. I see tattoos as a form of expressing ones individualism art. Shows that you represent stuff that you enjoy, such as animals, people's names, etc. I want to tattoo my mothers name, because she is the world to me. I love her to death and she is my idol. Her favorite color is blue and she loves roses and penguins. That is why when I am older I want to tattoo her name and over a blue rose entangles by thorns. In my point of view it would be showing the world I am not ashamed of calling her my mom, and how valuable she is to me.

Journal Entry #5 The Storm

On one level, the story's title refers to the storm that takes place through much of the story. To what else could the story's title refer?
The story could refer to at least two main points in this story that has been inferred. The first one that comes to my mind is using the word Storm as a symbol for the past relation the two had. The background of their relation isn't too many details, but it comes to the main concept of how it all ended. Simple and short and says how he basically left her for another women. They had not seen each other for so long, and so the relation between them is shaky. Their communication is simple and awkward. When it came to the storm she paid no attention to her surrounding until a felling came across her and saw a different scenery. As she came outside she saw him. He has not seen him in so long, and so a feeling of different emotions came startling her.  As the hours passed, he was the one making an effort of interest in conversing with her. She was in response to not allow it, but gave in. As the continuing interaction between the two came to an end, a lift of friction came of between them. They both opened up with open minded  and settled themselves back together  The relation between the two before was a effortless conflict, like a battle. Up until there was a time of need for him, that he had to go to her, which furthered them to come back to each other.

Journal Entry #4 Ground Zero

What did you feel when you first saw newspaper or magazine images or found zero? How were your reactions similar to or different from Berne's?
When I was younger and saw magazines about it, I knew nothing about it. I was to young to understand and it did not affect me alot, because I knew no one about it. What grabbed my attention were the images taken the day of the attack. Alot of perspective view points showed different points of views of how it happened. The resulting images showed so many emotions and dangerous situations people where put into. For example, the images showed people dying from injuries and hanging from the buildings that could lead to their deaths. People were also trapped underneath the rubber contaminating the air with dust. The fascinated me more, than to give me a feeling of sadness. A lot of certain things do not make me feel sad, only movies. The movie about the World Trade Center did affect me, because it gave me a more realistic picture of other peoples lives, that were effect by this.
Berne's reaction to this made e relate to him. He seemed like to be not so affected by this and to feel any sympathy toward others, As if he was clueless of how this meant to everyone else.  Personally he was more entertained and wanted to see other peoples point of views. He listened in to other people, for example, when the father was talking to his son about it the father seemed more hurt by this. Showed how he was here from the beginning of constructing it to the destruction of it now. My interest was in how it all happened and the results, and I can understand why people are hurt by this. Since no one that I know was hurt by this or was in danger by this attack, I feel no sadness about talking about this topic.

Journal Entry #3 Shooting an Elephant

Do you think Orwell is a coward? Do you think he is a racist? Explain your feelings.
I do not think that Orwell is a coward, more like a person that makes bad decision. He did not stay loyal to his personal beliefs, instead he followed what everyone else expected of him.
He is not racist, he is merely a person that knows factors that differ each individual person. When it came to him being in the village everyone did not come with welcome hands. They merely had no respect for him, because he is different from everyone else. He does not come from the same background as them. When it came to him saving them, he was a hero to some and a foe to others. Those that saw no danger in the elephant where people that maybe saw that he was harmless and caused no pain to them. As for those that did get harmed from the elephant, they were people that were blinded by grief and anger. In a way people have become a big factor that influenced Orwell. Making his decision was hard, because in eather result there would be people that would hate him more than they already do for being different.

Journal Entry #2 Thirty-Eight Who Saw Murder Didn't Call the Police

In a similar situation, would you have called the police? Would you have gone outside to help? What factors do you think might have influenced your decision?
If I were to witness a crime my first reaction would be surprise and angry. I would first see what seems to be the situation and yell out the window, "I have a gun and I will shoot". Then, if the criminal ran off id run out the door to help the victim inside and help him/her. Before doing so I would call the police and wait until they arrived. What influenced my decision is my past. In the past something terrible happened to my little sister and to this day I blame myself. I wasn't there to help her, no one was, but I wish I was I would of protected her. Danger can happen to any one and caused from the unexpected. I picture helpless people as my little sister and rush to help with anything I can. I wouldn't want anyone to go through the same thing as she did. No one should be feeling a painful experience through out their life.

Journal Entry #1 Only Daughter

In what sense do the number and gender(s) of your siblings "explaining everything" about who you are today.
I only have one sister and her name is Stephanie Espinosa. She is only a year younger than me, and we are different from each other. Since we are both girls and only our mother raised us on her own, we have a good amount of restrictions. My mother had to do everything for us such as: buy us clothes, buy food, buy school supplies and uniforms, pay the rent on her own, and do it all with minimum wage paycheck. We struggled alot more than other kids, and had to live with what we could afford. Seeing her struggle and still staying strong in our eyes made me change how I see life. She had to protect us alot from others, because she warned us to be cautious and smart in making decision on our own.
Letting us know how life can be hard and observing from a perspective that the income of ones wealth is a big effect on how your life will be. When I was younger I admit in having tantrums just because I never got everything I wanted. It wasn't because she didn't want to buy us a simple barbie, it was for we could not always afford it. A point in life when I started to grow more and understand, I saw that money is not given out for free. The nights that she wasn't there, where the nights we missed her the most. No mother to sleep next to us and protect us, and no mother to spend the afternoons out of school with.
I am who I am, because I was raised in an environment where we had to work for what we needed and struggle most of the times during hardship. I value what I receive and what i can get. People call me to friendly and caring. Only because I'm the kind of person that will be there for them and care and do anything I can possibly do to help.  Also, because of my childhood being different girls looked down on me and sometimes took advantage of me. I grew strong and let no one put me down, as well as to work hard in school to follow what I want to be in my future. If we work hard now, our future will be not as hard as she had to work with raising two daughters on her own. We will raise our own family different without struggle, is what my mother strongly believes in.
